1985
Neath fly-half Jonathan Davies scores a try and drops a goal on his debut for Wales in a 24-15 defeat of England in their Five Nations Championship clash at the Arms Park in Cardiff. Wales' other try came from No.8 Gareth Roberts with fullback Paul Thorburn converting both tries and also adding three penalties.

After a high-profile switch to rugby league in 1989, Davies would later become a dual-code international with appearances for both Great Britain and Wales. Davies returned to the now professional 15-man game in 1995 with Cardiff and would claim the last of his 32 caps against England in the 1997 Five Nations.

After his playing career was over Davies went on to forge a career as a respected television pundit for the BBC covering both rugby codes, in both English and his native Welsh language.

1946
Welsh prop Cliff Davies withdraws from the Welsh XV due to fly to France for the Easter Monday "Victory" International in Paris. A crisis is averted when his cousin Billy Jones, having propped for Cardiff against the Barbarians earlier in the day, steps forward and travels on Cliff's passport to play under Davies's name.

1974
France beat England 26-7 at Twickenham in a special charity match to raise funds for the Paris Air Disaster Appeal. The match was arranged following what was then the world's worst air disaster on March 3 that year where a Turkish DC-10 crashed into the woods north east of Paris killing 346 people.

1940
The Army beat Great Britain 23-15 in a well-attended charity match at Richmond. Twenty-one of those playing won international caps before the outbreak of War.

1957
The Barbarians inflict a 40-0 beating on Cardiff, the then biggest score achieved by the Baa-Baas in the annual Easter Saturday fixture.

1973
The Baa-Baas open their Grand Slam Easter tour to South Wales with a 23-6 victory over Penarth.
