Former Bath boss Steve Meehan has joined the Western Force as the Super Rugby side's attack coach for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

The Australian, who parted company with Bath last year after a five-year stint at The Rec, joins head coach Michael Foley, forwards coach Nick Stiles and former Queensland Reds strategist and kicking coach Phillip Fowler in a new-look set-up in Perth that was confirmed today.

Foley was delighted to acquire Meehan's services as he looks to conjure a turnaround in fortunes for the under-performing franchise. He said: "We said that we were going to recruit the best attack coach available and that's exactly what we've done. With our focus on attacking and dynamic rugby, we're fortunate to bring in someone with the experience and expertise of Steve (Meehan).

"His record at Stade Francais and Bath speaks for itself; he was able to implement a game style that players loved playing, that fans loved watching and that ultimately brought success. We have a similar goal for the side in 2013."

Meehan, who led Bath to their first trophy for 10 years in 2008 when he guided the side to European Challenge Cup glory, will be tasked with improving a record that saw the Force finish second to last in the Australian Conference earlier this year.

The team is also facing a period of transition having lost former head coach Richard Graham to the Reds mid-season while the squad is also set for an overhaul following the retirement of second row stalwart Nathan Sharpe and the departure of flanker David Pocock who has moved to the Brumbies.
