Sale prop Andrew Sheridan is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a move to Top 14 side Toulon.

The Top 14 big spenders have recruited heavily from Sale in the past couple of years when ex-Sharks boss Philippe Saint-Andre was at the helm. Prop Eifion Roberts and lock Dean Schofield have both journeyed to Toulon and according to reports in the media on Friday, Sheridan has already met with the Top 14 side's coach Bernard Laporte and toured the training ground ahead of a possible move.

Sheridan has struggled for fitness over the past year, after missing the majority of the 2010-11 season, and failed to make England's Elite Player Squad ahead of the 2012 Six Nations. Sheridan played just once for the red rose side during the 2011 World Cup after suffering a shoulder injury.

And he is yet to turn out for Sale this season but if Sheridan does complete his move to Toulon then it will effectively end his England career due to their rules over naming players who are plying their trade overseas. The Rugby Football Union currently states that they will only consider picking players overseas in "exceptional circumstances".

And Sheridan could be joined at Toulon by London Irish duo Delon Armitage and Nick Kennedy. French newspaper Var-Martin has reported that Kennedy has agreed to a three-year deal to leave the Madejski Stadium and journey to Toulon while Armitage's omission from England's EPS may also pave a move across the Channel for the 26-cap back - fact previously alluded to by Exiles boss Toby Booth.

If Sheridan does opt to move to France he will join a host of English players already plying their trade across the Channel. Toulon already have Schofield, Jonny Wilkinson, Simon Shaw and Steffon Armitage on their books. And elsewhere, Stade Francais have former Wasps players Tom Palmer and Paul Sackey while ex-Bath and Gloucester man Iain Balshaw is at Biarritz
