Italy flanker Mauro Bergamasco has signed for RaboDirect PRO12 strugglers Aironi from Stade Francais.
Bergamasco, who has won 88 caps for the Azzuri, will join up with his new team on Monday after agreeing a deal until the end of the season with an option for a second season. He will be available for Aironi's RaboDirect PRO12 clash with Ulster on December 17.
"After eight years in France, I am coming back to Italy to bring my experience and my desire to continue playing at the highest level," Bergamasco said. "I'm really excited with the opportunity to play in what is a really new competition for me and with a young and ambitious Italian team.
"I never hid my will to continue playing in a big European championship, and do it with an Italian team is a great new motivation."
Bergamasco joined Stade Francais in 2003 after a spell with Benetton Treviso. He won the French Top 14 with the club in 2004 and 2007.
