Profile

Ralph's Super Rugby career is a testament to his durability, with the winger having helped the Crusaders to dominate the landscape in the late 1990s and early part of the 21st century. He made his Super 12 bow for the Chiefs as a teenager but it was in the red of the Crusaders that he would excel. Ralph's record includes a run of 103 successive games for the franchise between 1999 and 2006. As well as excelling at domestic level Ralph won 14 caps for the All Blacks, playing at the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and was also part of the New Zealand Maori side that famously defeated the touring British & Irish Lions in 2005. In 2008 Ralph left the Crusaders, following a Super 14 triumph, to take up a contract in Japan.

However, in June 2011, Ralph made a sensational comeback to Super Rugby after being picked in the Reds squad for their final pool stage match against the Chiefs. Ralph, who was playing club rugby in Queensland at the time, answered the Reds SOS after injuries ravaged their back line.
