Cardiff Blues lock Bradley Davies was snapped up by the region as a 14 year-old, progressing through the ranks before captaining Wales U19 to a Grand Slam in 2005. It was during the 2006-07 Magners League season that Davies cemented his place with the Blues, with some strong performances winning him the award of most-improved player from the Blues fans.
Davies was poised to make the step up to international rugby in 2008 when Wales boss Warren Gatland included him in the squad for Wales' two-Test summer tour of South Africa. Davies was unfortunate to pick up an injury in training however, and he played no part on tour. In January 2009 Davies was included in Wales' Six Nations squad after scoring a dramatic late-winner for the Blues against Gloucester in the Heineken Cup a week earlier.
He won further caps on tour to North America in 2009 and retained his place for the 2010 Six Nations. After replacement appearances against England and Scotland he was handed a start against France, days after the death of his mother aged 46.
In April 2011 he was arrested following a brawl at a Welsh holiday resort.
And Davies went to the 2011 World Cup with Wales where he appeared in all of their matches including starts against Namibia, Fiji and their third placed final against Australia.
Come the 2012 Six Nations, Davies was back in the red of Wales and started in their clash with Ireland in the opening match of the weekend. The lock, however, was at the centre of a controversial incident as he was sin-binned for 'tip-tackling' Donncha Ryan.
