Flanker Josh Sole will miss Italy's RBS 6 Nations match against Scotland on Saturday after failing to recover from an elbow injury in time.

Sole, who picked up the knock against England two weeks ago, started in both of the Azzurri's first two games and is likely to return to the line-up against Wales in a fortnight.

Despite Sole's absence, team manager Marco Bollesan is in confident mood ahead of this weekend's trip to Murrayfield.

"After a poor performance against the French in the RBS 6 Nations opener, we did impress against the world champions," he said.

"In my opinion we really missed out due to small details, but we still performed at a high standard and even came close to getting an shock result.

"We are going to Edinburgh to get more than the usual 'great game boys, great pack'. I believe it is time to get an away win, even though the opponent is a very good one especially in front of their own fans.

"We are in great shape, we are ready to battle the Scots. It will be hard but our boys know this is an important game, and a win in Scotland would be great for all our fans."
