Brumbies boss Jake White has ruled himself out of the running to replace Declan Kidney as Ireland coach.
White, who led South Africa to the 2007 Rugby World Cup crown and has previously expressed a desire to return to the international stage, was recently contacted by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) but he has shunned their approach and re-affirmed his commitment to the Canberra-based Brumbies.
"I'm not available [for the Ireland job], I've made it quite clear that I've got a Brumbies contract and I'm here with a job to do," White told the Sydney Morning Herald. "I'm happy here, I'm coaching boys in Australia and I'm enjoying that.
"I'm really not in the market for every coaching job that pops up, I'm focusing on the Brumbies and making them better and in turn making Australian rugby better which is one of my briefs as a Super Rugby coach in Australia."
In related news, reports suggest Reds coach Ewen McKenzie was interviewed by the IRFU on Thursday evening. The ex-Stade Francais coach has already signalled his intent to leave the Brisbane franchise at the end of the season to further his chances of making the step up to the international arena.
Leinster's Joe Schmidt is considered the favourite to land the post with the Kiwi thought to have met IRFU officials earlier this week while Les Kiss, who was part of Kidney's support staff and will take interim charge for Ireland's two-Test North America tour this summer, is also in the selection mix.
