Profile

Scotland back-row Peter Brown made his international debut against France in January 1964 and went on to amass 27 caps for his country, 10 as captain. Unusually for a forward Brown was a proficient goal-kicker, landing six conversions and 15 penalties during his international career.

The older brother of late Scotland and British and Irish Lions lock Gordon, Brown was dubbed "the man on the coathanger" due to his unusual gait. At club level he was a servant of Galashiels and West of Scotland.

Following his retirement from playing he has worked with the Scottish Building Scociety as chairman and as senior partner in accountancy firm Hogg Thorburn. He also serves as a citing commissioner for the Six Nations and European Cup.
