The Glasgow Warriors have suffered a pre-season blow with the news that Stuart Hogg faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Hogg has been suffering from a persistent ankle problem that has not improved since he returned from Scotland's tour to the southern hemisphere. Hogg underwent the surgeon's knife last week and is set for eight weeks out.

Second-row Tim Swinson is also set to miss the start of the season. He faces three to six weeks out after suffering a facial injury against Sale last weekend. Hooker Pat MacArthur is also an injury worry and the Warriors are monitoring him.
