London Irish have confirmed that versatile back Shane Geraghty will re-join the club on a two-year deal.

Geraghty is currently plying his trade for Brive in the Top 14 and has contributed to their charge to the Amlin Challenge Cup semi-finals this season. He joined Brive from the Northampton Saints after leaving London Irish at the end of the 2008-09 season.

But with director of rugby Brian Smith back at the helm, someone who Geraghty worked well with in the past, he has opted to move back to the Premiership and to the Madejski Stadium. Smith is looking forward to welcoming his man back in what will be a new-look London Irish next term. They are bidding farewell to a host of players including Delon Armitage, Nick Kennedy and Bob Casey but will be boosted by Geraghty's return.

"I know Shane well and he is an exceptional player with a great deal of skill," Smith said. "He's a game breaking ball player and he's matured as a game controller. As we're a team that wants to attack, Shane is a great player to partner Tomás O'Leary.

"His contribution during his first spell with London Irish was massive and I know he will contribute the same when he joins us again."
