Veteran backline utility Felipe Contepomi will start at inside centre in one of five changes Argentina has made from the team that lost 28-13 to the All Blacks ahead of their clash against the Wallabies at Patersons Stadium in Perth.
Pumas head coach Santiago Phelan had one change forced by injury, but the four others were selection based. Tomas Cubelli will wear the number nine jersey for his first start in this year's Rugby Championship, with Martin Landajo dropping to the bench, while there is a double change in the midfield, with Contepomi to play his 85th Test match at No.12, while London Welsh based Gonzalo Tiesi will feature at outside centre.
The return of the 36-Test midfielder will please many Argentine supporters; with many ranking the former Sevens star as the country's best choice in the centres. The final change in the backline sees Juan Imhoff restored to the starting line up in the place of the injured Gonzalo Camacho, who returned to England after suffering a dislocated shoulder. He will complete his recovery with his Aviva Premiership club, the Leicester Tigers.
After an impressive outing against the All Blacks up front, the forward pack features just one change with Agustín Creevy named at hooker, meaning Eusebio Guinazu drops to the reserves.
Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe continues as captain in his 54th Test match, and the English Premiership and Heineken Cup winner will be joined by another incoming half-centurion, with Juan Manuel Leguizamon playing his 50th Test match.
The impressive flanker, featuring at number eight this weekend, made his debut in 2005 and is a veteran of two Rugby World Cups.
This will be the 20th Test match between Australia and Argentina, and the 11th on Australian soil. The Pumas have won just the solitary Test match away from home against the Wallabies, in 1983 in Ballymore 18-3.
