Toulon target Springboks star Ruan Pienaar
September 18, 2013
Toulon have reportedly targeted South Africa scrum-half Ruan Pienaar with the No.9's contract up at the end of the season.
Ulster signed Pienaar in 2010 and he has quickly established a reputation as one of the best players in the RaboDirect PRO12. He helped guide them to the final of the tournament last season and the last stage of the Heineken Cup in 2012.
But Toulon have huge financial resources at their disposal and already have a large Springboks contingent in their squad with the likes of Bakkies Botha, Michael Claassens, Joe van Niekerk, Bryan Habana and Danie Rossouw all at the Top 14 side. And L'Equipe claims they are keen to add Pienaar to their ranks with Schalk Burger another name in the frame to join the big spenders.
