Toulouse are reportedly on the verge of signing Fijian centre Rupeni Caucaunibuca as a 'medical joker'.

Caucau's playing future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks following his axing from Agen's squad.

The 30-year-old failed to return to France for pre-season and was informed that he had no role to play in their Top 14 campaign, but looks set to land on his feet with a short-term move to Le Rouge et Noir.

Toulouse have been on the lookout for further midfield cover after French international Yann David suffered a broken leg.

Caucau has not been registered for Toulouse's Heineken Cup campaign and is likely some way from a comeback, having not played since Fiji's heavy loss to Australia in Canberra on June 5.
