A surprise call up to the England squad for the 2008 Six Nations opener against Wales, Narraway initially secured a place in the England elite player squad following some impressive performances on a summer tour to New Zealand.
He joined Gloucester from Kings School in Worcester and made his Premiership debut against Leeds in May 2003. He was a part of the England Under-21 side for the 2004 Six Nations, having already worn the rose at Under-18 level.
After his debut, Narraway drifted in and out of contention at international level, captaining England Saxons but failing to build on his start in a white shirt. He remained a committed and reliable presence for Gloucester, although he opted to break a long relationship in early 2012, when he signed for Perpginan.
