Saxons call for Mercey

Saracens prop Tom Mercey has been called into England Saxons' squad ahead of Saturday's Barclays Churchill Cup final against Scotland A as a replacement for David Wilson.

Wilson yesterday flew to New Zealand to join the senior squad in place of the injured Andrew Sheridan.
"Tom impressed me with his performance in Saracens' away Heineken Cup match against Biarritz last November and in last year's Barclays Churchill Cup,'' said Saxons coach Toby Booth.
"He's had limited first team game time behind two international tight-head props (Cobus Visagie and Cencus Johnston), but when he's had the opportunity, he's shown himself to be capable of competing at a high level."
Mercey, who was 21 on Sunday, will meet up with the squad in Chicago later today.
