A "RefCam" will be trialled for the first time during the RFU Championship clash between Newcastle Falcons and London Scottish on December 23. The broadcast of the game will include live action from a camera on the shirt of referee Matt Carley, including close-ups of the scrum. The Rugby Football Union hope the move will enhance viewers' experience and help them understand the role of the officials as well as providing footage for referee education in the future. Head of professional referee development Ed Morrison said: "This is an exciting development and one that we're excited to trial. "Not only will it offer a new perspective for viewers but it will also provide us with an additional tool which can be utilised within the on-going development of our referees." © ESPN EMEA Ltd
