Gloucester's Jonny May has been called into the England squad following a tour-ending injury to Harlequins' George Lowe.

The England Saxons international flew to South Africa overnight as a replacement for Lowe who will return home tonight for further consultation after a scan showed he had suffered left ankle ligament damage in the mid-week victory over the SA Barbarians (South).

Coach Stuart Lancaster said: "It's a shame for George because he had a good game against the Southern Barbarians until he was injured. But this is an opportunity for another young player who has come up through our age grade programme and into the Saxons to gain some valuable international tour experience."
