Tom Palmer will return to the Aviva Premiership with Wasps next season, having agreed to end his time with Stade Francais.

The England lock has signed a two-year deal at Adams Park, where he won the Premiership and Heineken Cup before agreeing a switch to Paris in 2009.

The re-signing is a significant one for Wasps coach Dai Young, whose side are scrabbling around at the foot of the table. Palmer will be joined next season by fellow England forward James Haskell, who will play Super Rugby for the Highlanders in the coming months.

"This is a fantastic signing for us, and I'm delighted that Tom will be here next season," Young said.

"Bringing the kind of quality in that Tom and James will deliver, demonstrates our desire to have a highly-competitive squad next season that will see us I hope push forward very positively.

"Tom is one of the best second-rows in world rugby, and it's a real advantage that he comes to the club with a thorough knowledge of what Wasps is all about."
