Worcester Warriors' injury woes have been further compounded with Matt Kvesic set for a spell on the sidelines.

The England U20 international was stretchered off during the Warriors' 15-9 loss to Exeter at Sandy Park and with the likes of Kai Horstmann, Neil Best and Adam Balding all on the sidelines, Worcester boss Richard Hill has confirmed he will look to bolster the back-row with a short-term signing as they look to cope with their crisis. Hill believes Kvesic - one of the Warriors' standout players this season - has broken a small bone in his foot which would mean six weeks out.

"We have now only got two back-row players left in Jake Abbott and Sam Betty, the rest are in the treatment room," Hill told Worcester News. "We are in a mini-crisis at the moment.

"I did say that we could just about cope by putting Chris Jones at number eight but, after the bad luck to Matt, I am going to have to find another back row. I had a list of available players and, after I'd picked one, I threw the list in the bin but I am going to have to find where I put it now!

"It's not easy, but it is an absolute necessity now. The early part of this week I am going to have to find another back row."

And Hill claims he is already on the verge of bringing in a ready-made replacement. "I understand we are further down the line with that signing, I can't really commit myself to that as it is not all signed and sealed. But, as a result of Saturday, I will need to get another one in too.

"We are lucky that we have some great opensides at the club. Jake did well and put a lot of pressure on at the breakdown when he came on. He forced some turnovers and carried a lot of ball, he took a few bashes and looks a bit of a state now."
