Doug McLean Snr was a former dual code international who represented the Wallabies in three Tests between 1904-05 before earning two caps for the Kangaroos in 1908.
He played on the wing in the first ever Australian rugby league Test against New Zealand in Sydney in 1908 and was one of five former Wallabies who featured in the game alongside Dally Messenger, Micky Dore, Denis Lutge and Johnny Rosewell.
He is part of the famous McLean clan that includes his son Doug Jnr - who represented Australia in both rugby codes - and son Bill who captained the Wallabies in the wake of World War II and whose son Peter also played for his country. Another son Jack toured with the Wallabies in 1946 but did not earn a Test cap. A fourth son Bob had two sons - Jeff and Paul - who also represented the Wallabies.
