Cardiff Blues will tackle the Scarlets in their must-win Magners League clash on Friday without Wales lock Bradley Davies.
The 24-year-old suffered a chest injury in last Friday's 28-15 loss to the Dragons at Rodney Parade and now faces between two and six weeks on the sidelines, making him a doubt for Wales' meeting with the Barbarians on June 4.
The Blues must beat their west Wales rivals to guarantee a spot in the play-offs, with their hosts and the Ospreys both lurking with intent just outside the top four.
Coach Dai Young is also waiting for further news on knocks suffered by All Black centre Casey Laulala and Wales winger Tom James following the Dragons game, while loose-head Gethin Jenkins remains absent after toe surgery.
