The Sydney-born Parks qualifies for Scotland thanks to his grandfather, who was born in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire.
The fly-half made his international debut against Wales in the opening game of the 2004 Six Nations, retaining his place at fly-half for the three-Test series against his native Australia and the autumn internationals later that year.
Parks nailed down a position within the Scotland squad during the Six Nations in 2005 and has gone on to record 47 caps for Scotland. He made his Rugby World Cup debut in 2007, playing in all of Scotland's games en-route to the quarter finals before being voted as the Scotland fans' player of the tournament. During his career Parks has contested the Scotland fly-half jersey with Gordon Ross, Phil Godman and Chris Paterson, but has now emerged as an important and experienced influence on their improving team.
Parks has been a central figure for the Warriors since joining from Eastern Suburbs club in Sydney in the summer of 2003. His ever-reliable boot has seen him finish as top scorer in each of his six years at the club and in December 2009, he became the first player in Magners League history to reach 1,000 points.
The 20 points he added in the victory over Edinburgh in the 1872 Cup derby in front of a record home crowd at Firhill Arena, took him past the remarkable milestone. The vast majority of those points - 911 - came from the boot - 121 conversions, 208 penalty goals and 15 drop goals, with the balance made up by the 18 tries he touched down between his League debut against Connacht in September 2003 and today's game.
The Warriors' Player of the Season in 2006-07, when he scored 197 points in the Magners League, he is the leading points scorer in Glasgow's history, and has now added this Magners League landmark to his records. After his success with the Warriors, Parks confirmed a move to their Magners League rivals Cardiff Blues in early 2010.
He was recalled to the Scotland side to face Wales in the 2010 Six Nations, picking up the Man of the Match award despite their defeat. He did the same against Italy and Ireland, crucially kicking the winning points to defeat the Irish in the final game at Croke Park.
Parks retained the Scotland No.10 shirt for the historic away series victory over Argentina that summer and kicked all his side's points in the 21-17 win against South Africa later that year.
However he endured a poor start to the Six Nations tournament the following year and was ousted by Glasgow fly-half Ruaridh Jackson.
