New South Wales Waratahs centre Tom Carter has retired from professional rugby.
Carter made his debut for the Waratahs in 2004 and has since won 84 caps for the side. In his final match for the 'Tahs, he scored a brace of tries against the British & Irish Lions on June 13. Carter will now turn his attention to club side Sydney University as they battle for the Shute Shield.
The Waratahs said they would like to "congratulate Tom Carter on a fantastic career and his significant contribution to rugby in NSW". His decision to hang up his boots comes alongside the departures of Sitaleki Timani and John Ulugia (both to France), Tom Kingston (Rebels), Berrick Barnes (Japan) and scrum-half Grayson Hart from the franchise.
