Fotu Auelua shapes as a bolter to make the Wallabies squad to face the British & Irish Lions, after he was invited to the two-day logistics camp in Sydney.
Auelua has been outstanding for the Brumbies this season, impressing particularly against the Sharks in Durban, and his invitation to the camp indicates he is being considered strongly for the Test squad, The Australian reports.
New Zealand-born Auelua is of Samoan heritage. He moved with his family to Sydney as a youngster, and played rugby league for Parramatta's junior teams and earned Australian Schoolboys selection in 2001.
He played club rugby for West Harbour in Sydney's Shute Shield competition from 2003 before taking up contracts to play for Dax and Toulon in France and NTT Shining Aces in Japan. He returned to Australia in 2012 to play for the Brumbies.
He will be part of a large Brumbies' contingent at the camp, reflective of the Canberra Super Rugby franchise's position atop the Australian conference standings. Stephen Moore, Ben Alexander, Pat McCabe, Christian Lealiifano, Joe Tomane, Dan Palmer, Nic White, Ben Mowen and Jesse Mogg will also attend the camp from Canberra.
