Dennis was a surprise pick as one of seven uncapped players in Australia's 2009 end-of-year Tour, having struggled to get a foothold in Super 14 rugby with the NSW Waratahs due to a string of knee injuries.
The versatile forward found a place in Sydney University's 2009 premiership-winning side as a second rower, despite being traditionally known as a flanker. The move paid dividends for Dennis, who has earned just one cap for the Waratahs, back in 2007. The Wallabies call-up should attract interest for Dennis, who was unsigned for 2010. The forward has indicated his first preference is to play in his home country with a Super 14 franchise. He re-signed with the Waratahs and earned a call up to the Wallabies squad for the 2012 Rugby Championship, having made his Wallaby debut against Scotland earlier in the summer.
