Gill looks set to continue Australia's fine tradition of producing world class openside flankers, following in the footsteps of George Smith and David Pocock. He made a big impression at under-20 level, starring for Australia in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Junior World Championships. He also made a big impact in Australia's sevens squad before his form for the Queensland Reds in the 2012 Super Rugby season earned him a call up to Australia's squad for the inaugural Rugby Championship tournament.
