Harlequins have signed hooker Dave Ward from the Cornish Pirates following a series of injuries in the position. The 26-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Pirates since joining them three seasons ago, having also spent time with Bath, Northampton and Sale Sharks. Ward's Premiership experience is limited, with just four appearances and one start, but Quins boss Conor O'Shea is confident that the signing will be a good match. "With the recent retirement of Matt Cairns and the long term injury to Chris Brooker, we needed a talented player to complement our existing front-row," he said. "Dave fits the profile of the type of player we want at this club and his style of play fits ours." © ESPN EMEA Ltd
