Wasps prop Tim Payne has been hit with a two-week suspension for striking Northampton Saints' Vasily Artemyev with his knee.

Payne was sin-binned for the offence after the incident - which happened in the last few moments of the first-half in Wasps' game with Northampton on Friday - was referred to the TMO by the referee. And the prop pleaded guilty to a "charge of striking with the knee" at his hearing today.

He will be cleared to return to action on October 16 and will miss Wasps' next two games. They will have to cope without their prop - who made his 250th appearance for the Aviva Premiership side on Friday - in their match against the Worcester Warriors on Saturday and their Amlin Challenge Cup game with the Newport Gwent Dragons on October 13.
