Phil Larder has agreed a new deal as defence coach of Aviva Premiership side Worcester.

Larder, part of England's coaching staff during their Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in 2003, rejoined the Warriors this season after a spell at Sixways five years previously.

The former Sale centre was part of the back-room team for the British & Irish Lions tours of 2001 and 2005 and helped Leicester to secure four straight Premiership titles and back-to-back Heineken Cup victories in 2001 and 2002.

"I have been absolutely delighted by the strides we have made under Phil's guidance and the work he has done," Worcester head coach Richard Hill said. "He has been a huge contributing factor to being where we are in the league at the current time.

"Phil had immediate respect within the squad. He is renowned in the United Kingdom as one of the best defence coaches around.

"His hunger for the game is as strong as ever, and he demands the highest standards and work ethic from the squad to make them even better."
