A product of Marlborough College, Gibson rose through the ranks at London Irish, beginning with success at 'A' league level. The back-rower combined his rugby career with a degree in classics at Oxford University and became a regular fixture for the Exiles in 2011-12. International recognition followed in the form of a call-up for England's summer tour to South Africa, where he featured in midweek matches against the South African Barbarians.
