South Africa will be looking to continue their dominant record over Fiji when the two side meet in the Pool D clash in Wellington. The Springboks have beaten the Fiji in their two previous meetings. In 1996 the recently crowned World Champions South Africa put Fiji to the sword in Pretoria in the first clash between the two countries. The Springboks scored five tries with Andre Joubert, Mark Andrews, Japie Mulder and Danie van Schalkwyk crossing along with a penalty try. Joubert claimed a personal haul of 13 points with two penalties and a conversion as well as the try. When the sides met again in the pool stages of the 2007 Rugby World Cup in Marseilles, Fiji pushed the Springboks slightly closer. Fiji scored tries through Sireli Bobo and Vilimoni Delasau but again South Africa ran in five scores with Jaque Fourie, Butch James, JP Pietersen, John Smit and Juan Smith all crossing. South Africa went on to be crowned World Champions once again.
